Under his direction, the whole body is fitted together perfectly. As each part does its own special work, it helps the other parts grow, so that the whole body is healthy and growing and full of love. Ephesians 4:16

Why become a member?

"The United Methodist Church exists to make disciples of Jesus Christ for the transformation of the world."

As part of the United Methodist movement, First UMC - Celina has been called into existance by God to change lives and to transform the world - that is our reason for being!

You were created for greatness and being a part of a faith community gives you the chance to discover your God-given gifts and to join with other church family members to use those gifts to change the world. We believe that being active in the life of the congregation is a positive step for one’s personal spiritual growth and in finding one's passion and purpose.

Becoming a member creates the opportunity to formally commit to uphold the church with your prayers, your presence, your gifts, your service and your witness.

Becoming a member of our FUMC...

It is preferred that those wishing to become a professing member of the church first contact the pastor for information on United Methodist beliefs and social principles.

In order to become a professing member one must be baptized. The church respects baptism from all traditions and denominations.

But if you have not been baptized, and would like to become a member, we are happy to arrange your baptism.

You can contact the pastor at the church office at 972-382-2655.

 Joining during Worship service...

Anyone wishing to unite with the church will be asked to come forward to the altar area (before the pulpit) during the singing of the last hymn of the service. The pastor will greet that person at the altar. The candidate(s) may/may not be asked to respond to a series of questions dependent on the type of membership.

Membership takes place in one of three ways...

1.By Profession of Faith. This process is for the candidate who has had no previous affiliation with another church/denomination. A series of questions will be asked of the candidate by the pastor. These questions can be found on pages 46, 47 in The United Methodist Hymnal.

2.By Transfer of Membership from another Denomination. This act is for those who desire to join this church from another denomination (Baptist, Lutheran, Catholic, etc.). A simple question is asked of the candidate. This question can be found on p. 48 in the hymnal.

3.By Transfer of Membership from another United Methodist Church. The pastor simply announces that the candidate has elected to transfer membership from previous to current church.
